Georg Oppermann becomes new Uniper corporate spokesman

Georg Oppermann will become Uniper's new Corporate Spokesperson and Head of the External Communication & Sustainability team as of July 1. In this role, he succeeds Leif Erichsen, who, as reported, will leave the company at his own request to pursue new professional challenges.

In his role, Oppermann reports to Fabienne Twelemann, who has been Head of Corporate Communication & Governmental Relations since April.

In addition to his role as spokesperson, Oppermann’s responsibilities include strategic, conceptual, and content-related management of the company’s external representation, particularly in the media. One focus will be on sustainability communication.

Oppermann has worked at Uniper and its predecessor companies for more than twenty years, starting his career at PreussenElektra Handel (VEBA) in Hanover as a Market and Competition Analyst. Since 2006, Oppermann has been responsible for the communication management of several key corporate projects: the centralization of the E.ON Group's European energy trading companies in 2008, the integration of E.ON Ruhrgas in 2013, and most recently the successful sale of the business unit Uniper France in 2018. Since the founding of Uniper in 2016, Oppermann has worked for the Düsseldorf-based company as communication manager and spokesman.

Fabienne Twelemann says: ”I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Georg Oppermann, a very experienced communication expert from our own ranks, as company spokesman. Georg knows the energy markets as well as the media world and brings with him a large network. He also embodies Uniper and its values very credibly. These are important prerequisites for successfully shaping Uniper's far-reaching transformation with the goal of climate-neutrality in Europe by 2035 and presenting it transparently to the public.”
