One Day with… Joshua, tech industry enthusiast

Summary

From a student to a professional intern to a founder

Joshua Malemba is living his passion. Our Software Developer Intern discovered his enthusiasm for software development, coding, and the whole tech industry when he was only 14 years old. “My dad became a data scientist. When he came home from work and talked to my mother about coding, it felt like magic, like a crazy, completely new thing”, Joshua said.

From this day on, he wanted to get involved and gather knowledge about how to write pure programs to automate information and develop scalable systems. One year later, he started to watch many tutorials and to code by himself.

Today, the 20-year-old Software Engineering student wants to gather experiences in a professional environment. “I really like the mission my internship at Uniper is contributing to. The whole world is going through one of the fastest digital revolutions of all time – and Uniper is striving to bring digitization to the industry”, Joshua said.

As a software developer, the enthusiastic intern is involved in different stages of the software lifecycle – from developing the code, the implementation, and the release. “To see a faster evolution across various sectors, we have to embed more digital tools and technologies in traditional industries. Seeing my part contributing to this objective is one of the most satisfying feelings.”

Next to his studies and internship, he founded Code Suite – a platform that provides a portfolio of coding-oriented services for people of all kinds, young or old. “I found out about coding from my dad, rather than through school. With Code Suite, I introduce modern technologies to young students, as well as adults aiming to make a transition into technology”, Joshua explained. “In online courses, livestreams on Instagram or podcasts we talk about code. I would like to help people through their own journey. Everyone should get an opportunity to try.”

Congratulations to Joshua, although I'm rather concerned with what appears to be dangerous/distracted driving in the video. Not something the company should be condoning.
