We’ve reached 500 new COODE ideas !
This key achievement is at the center of our operational digitalization program.
This week we passed the landmark of 500 ideas submitted by our operational colleagues into the COODE programme (Chief Operating Officer’s Digital Evolution). That’s 500 ideas from colleagues who work across our assets and know them best, who have an idea on how digital solutions can solve their problems and make their lives easier.
Here we describe how the COODE program supports and grows those ideas in a robust governance framework, in a way that meets the needs of our operational fleets.
What happens to our digital ideas?
Ideas go into the Digital Idea Tracker – the ideation and collaboration space where new ideas progress into reality. Supported by Site Digital Champions, Fleet Digital Connectors, Fleet Directors, IT specialists and Software Teams, who steer and progress the development every step of the way.
Every week, all new Ideas are screened and ranked by a team brought together by COODE, which includes our leaders of Maintenance, Asset IT, Performance and Analytics.
Following evaluation and ranking the ideas are approved and prioritized by our Sounding Board. This is made up of
- Directors of our Gas, Hydro, Steam & Biomass, Storage and Nuclear Fleets
- Fleet Digital Connectors
- Representatives from all COO areas
The Sounding Board drives the prioritization of our digital evolution, so that the COODE program of work reflects the wishes and priorities of our operational organization
Colleagues whose Ideas are prioritized work in collaboration with our specialist developers to investigate how best to bring their idea to life. This DevOps (Developer plus Operations) approach ensures our digital solutions are best in class and meet the needs of our operational and asset colleagues.

The DevOps Team lead the development cycles of the digital solution idea – this joint collaboration helps us to explore, build, test, and deliver software fast and reliably.
Newly developed digital solutions are released in the COODE App Store and made available to everyone in Uniper to benefit from – including new digital tools, Power Apps and Power BI solutions.
Of the 500 ideas submitted since the beginning of COODE last year, more than 50 have been converted into actual digital solutions. That’s 50 best in class digital solutions across core areas of Maintenance, Engineering, Risk, Operation & Production – all helping to drive Unipers Energy Evolution
