One day with… Laura from Enfield, Grain and Taylor’s Lane power stations

Summary

Experience many career adventures with Uniper

Looking back at her beginnings at Uniper as a young working student, Laura is pleased for the career growth opportunities that Uniper has offered her: “At Uniper, I am constantly learning about different aspects of the energy sector. Initially, I joined Uniper as a working student in market analysis, then I started a new role as trading and commercial trainee. Currently, I am enjoying a secondment in project development in London where I am working on innovative ideas to decarbonise and increase value drivers of three power stations”, Laura says. “Prior to working at Uniper, I was unaware of the complexity of the energy market and the opportunities that lie within. Today, I am supporting the decarbonisation of the energy industry and contributing towards a more sustainable future, which makes me feel very proud”, she continues.

After her university studies in Spain, she moved to Germany where she began her career with Uniper. She has recently started a new role based in London. “I absolutely love that Uniper gives the opportunity to work in different countries and with people with diverse cultural backgrounds”, says Laura, who enjoys reading, crafts and working out in her free time. “It has been challenging meeting new colleagues online whilst working from home, however, the open and friendly atmosphere at Uniper has made it much easier”, she adds. Her recommendation for students out there: “Reach out to people and be curious about what’s happening in different parts of the business. At Uniper there are numerous ongoing projects to get involved with, and who knows, perhaps that new topic you just learnt might suddenly become your new passion”.
