Responsible sourcing
We engage with innovative suppliers to deliver sustainable solutions for a positive impact on our environment and the society.
In order to achieve our sustainability targets, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects represent an integral part of our supplier onboarding and risk management monitoring process, our sourcing decisions and our supplier engagement plans.
We select our suppliers based on predefined sustainability criteria, in alignment with our procurement strategy and our business requirements. Our sustainability criteria reflect the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as prioritized in the Uniper sustainability strategy.
Compliant sourcing
We operate with high ethical standards and put them into practice every day and everywhere we do business.
Uniper has a Business Policy in place for identifying, verifying and reporting the main compliance risks potentially posed by new suppliers, before contracts are concluded: As an integral part of our onboarding process, we require suppliers to provide information about their company, the ownership structure, the products and services offered, and to acknowledge Uniper’s Supplier Code of Conduct.
Our standard proceedings foresee an extensive compliance check as prerequisite to complete the registration. Moreover, advanced digital risk management solutions ensure real-time risk monitoring, including supplier compliance alerts, as basis for compliant decision making.
Health and safety are key
Our top priority is to work safely, look after our people’s health, and protect them from harm.
Services required by Uniper are in many cases classified as high Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) risk activities. Our commitment to health and safety extends to the employees of our suppliers. Therefore, we engage with suppliers and manage HSSE risks at every phase of pre-contractual and contractual relationships:
- HSSE qualification during the supplier onboarding phase.
- Check for compliance with our Safety Requirements during the contract execution.
- Performance review and supplier engagement plans for our strategic suppliers.
