Energy Transformation Hubs

Successfully shaping the energy transition is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Success here depends primarily on two interrelated factors: Decarbonization to preserve our environment in the long term, and security of supply for the energy that businesses as well as society need. To accomplish both together, we need to generate, store, and supply more carbon-neutral energy. We also need to diversify our energy supply sources to be as independent as possible from distortions in the markets.

Decarbonization solutions

Uniper has a full range of solutions to help companies and municipal utilities decarbonize. We can convert their on-site energy production to a lower-carbon fuel. We also analyze production processes to identify ways to reduce consumption. And we provide certified green power as well as carbon offsets for unavoidable emissions. Our approach is always individually tailored to each customer’s objectives, circumstances, and budget. For the most ambitious, we can design a roadmap to guide them all the way to net zero. For all, we can help them find government subsidies or arrange funding that makes their decarbonization journey as affordable as possible.

Renewables

Uniper has set itself the goal of accelerating the energy transition in Europe. To this end, we have a diversified platform for developing solar and onshore wind projects in our core European markets, with the capacity to develop 1 GW per year to ready-to-build status by the end of 2025 at the latest. We are now looking to realize our ever-growing multi-GW pipeline of solar and onshore wind projects.

Hydrogen

Low- and zero-carbon hydrogen can make the journey to net zero shorter and cheaper, particularly for hard-to-decarbonize industries. Hydrogen can power many types of vehicles. It burns like natural gas and so can be used to generate electricity and heat homes. It can also serve as the basis for climate-neutral chemicals and green diesel and jet fuel. Uniper is collaborating with other leading companies to establish Europe’s hydrogen economy. We’re already developing major hydrogen hubs in Germany, Britain, and the Netherlands. We’re also using our global trading expertise to help meet Europe’s future hydrogen needs with imports.

Our global presence

We continue to strengthen our presence in key markets, develop innovative solutions and acquire companies in prioritized areas. Uniper solutions are sold to over 100 countries and we currently operate in over 40 countries.
