One day with… Rania, Performance Engineer at Uniper in Sweden

Summary

Developing the business and growing personally every day

After completing her Master of Mechanical Engineer last year, Rania Torabi Aysf started working at Uniper in Sweden. Stationed in Malmö, in our main office Öresundsverket, she has the important role of a Performance Engineer.

“Everyday, we drive to different sites where we are supposed to work. I am like a supporter for our site managers, I check the quality of processes and routines, I do complex calculations and report the efficiency of our business by using important key performance indicators (KPIs)”, Rania explained. “But the job is not that easy to summarize, because every day looks very different from the other.”

What her working day looks like depends on the situation, what the managers focus on and what is most important at the moment. While looking at business directives one day, the next day she sits in meetings with customers, focusing on KPIs, or meets the Steam Committee for gas turbines in whole Sweden, exchanging ideas and researching what the future of gas turbines might look like.

“I cannot sit still; I ask so many questions. I really like to have the overview of how everyone is involved or how we can organize our work and processes more effectively. My job is to optimize the entire business and its quality. Therefore, I contribute to so many areas.” And that is exactly what she likes most about her work at Uniper: “The variety is amazing. I am not doing the same thing every day. I always have new questions and face new challenges where I realize that I never stop learning. I like that, it is very important”, she said. “Every day, I continue to develop as a person but also within the company. Uniper gives me the chance to grow.”
