New Series of Events: Summer of Music at the Walchensee Power Plant

Summary

Starting this summer, Uniper will be organizing open-air concerts at its Walchensee power plant at the foot of the Bavarian Alps — infection rates permitting. For Uniper and the Hydro Germany division, the "Summer of Music at the Walchensee Power Plant" is a new and important part of Corporate Citizenship

A balmy summer evening, perfectly chilled white wine and a cultured evening of live music performed by carefully selected musical groups all await visitors to the Summer of Music at the Walchensee Power Plant events, which will begin in the middle of July. This series of events organized by Uniper will provide a new boost to the local tourism industry and support the cultural scene in the Kochel am See region that surrounds the Walchensee power plant. Daniel Weikel, head of the region's tourist information center, was particularly enthusiastic about this new series of events at the video conference that announced the project: He called it an "excellent addition to the local offering" that would definitely increase guests' enjoyment of their stay in Kochel. Andreas Wüstefeld, head of the tourist association Tölzer Land, said that he was "very grateful" for the new festival and deemed it a "high-quality offering."

For Klaus Engels, managing director of the Hydro Germany division, the Summer of Music at the Walchensee Power Plant events will be a key part of the company's presence in the region, as well as a sign of its commitment to the area: "Through the decades, the Walchensee power plant has become firmly intertwined with the surrounding region, meaning that, as the operator of the plant, we also have strong ties to the area. We feel very at home in the region and we want to build a close relationship with its inhabitants that includes constructive and open dialog. Among the attractions we offer is the information center, which welcomes up to 100,000 visitors from all around the world each year. With this new series of events, we want to give something back to the region and boost the cultural scene of this wonderful landscape."

The Summer of Music at the Walchensee Power Plant events will—if the infection rates and regulations permit—begin this summer and will feature well-known artists from across the country, performing everything from blues, jazz and soul to traditional Alpine music.
