One day with… Nurgul from the Hydrogen Team

Born and grown up in Kyrgyzstan, Nurgul graduated from one of the best universities majoring in World Economy in her home country as well as from University Trier majoring in Economics in Germany. Today, after having lived 11 years in Germany, she found a company who values an open culture embracing diversity and striving for sustainability the same way as she does. “At Uniper, there is a culture which strives for excellence, innovation, digitization and diversity. I have found a perfect match for my professional and personal values. It took a while for me to find the right company though”, Nurgul says.

During her academic and career path in Kyrgyzstan and in Germany, she got to know different corporate cultures combining various spheres and languages as well as continuously developing and challenging herself to deliver high performance. Her work history in her home country started from state institutions with focus on foreign relations and international cooperation on sustainable development and her final role was with a global micro-finance company who had a mission of poverty fighting through financing small businesses, mostly women.

In Germany, she gained working experience in different companies, from a solid corporation in the metal industry to small businesses. “If I am honest, sometimes it was not easy to adapt to the German operational environment, which was mostly conservative and diverse experience supposedly not always needed”, explains Nurgul her beginnings. “Being cosmopolitan and striving for innovative, agile and dynamic working environments, I faced the German work culture where an expert tends to have a narrow specialization with academic qualifications in that particular field only”.

At Uniper, she found what she was looking for. “I really appreciate the support of the Hydrogen Team which helps me grow and develop my full potential”, Nurgul says.
