Grid reserve on the banks of the Danube
The Ingolstadt power plant is located directly on the banks of the Danube and is the only power plant - of Uniper and in Bavaria - that uses heavy fuel oil. The fuel oil is sourced from neighboring refineries.
The Ingolstadt power plant was one of the peak and medium load power plants that were listed for decommissioning on March 31, 2015. Due to the grid situation in southern Germany, it was classified as system-relevant by the transmission system operator TenneT in accordance with §13b EnWG.
Since April 1, 2015, the Ingolstadt power plant has therefore been in the grid reserve and is used exclusively by the transmission system operator.
