About Barsebäck Kraft
Barsebäcksverket is a decommissioned nuclear power plant located in Öresund, north of Malmö. The plant was shut down following a political decision in the late 1990s, and is owned by Uniper, which is also responsible for its dismantling and demolition.
What are we working with at present?
Intensive dismantling work has been ongoing for quite some time in the turbine halls of Barsebäck 1 and 2. We have dismounted and removed all of the machinery at the heart of the plant, i.e., the location where we generated electricity that covered 30% of Skåne’s demand for electricity. Watch the video clip to follow the journey of the last reheater from the plant.
Watch as we conduct our demolition work
At Barsebäck we have come full circle in the life cycle of a nuclear power plant. Responsible dismantling and demolition is creating conditions conducive to future electricity generation by nuclear power and thereby, opportunities for Sweden to achieve its ambitious climate goals. We consider this to be our most important contribution.
