Dividend policy
Uniper's previous dividend policy is now subordinated to the financial stabilization measures, which result primarily from the supply shortfalls of Russian gas for the German gas supply due to the curtailed supplies from Russia.
The German government, Uniper and Fortum agreed on a financial stabilization package in early autumn 2022. The package of measures will safeguard Uniper and provide a solution for the losses incurred due to the expensive replacement procurement of Russian natural gas. The measures agreed are also intended to ensure that Uniper's credit rating remains investment grade.
Part of the agreement is that further dividend payments by Uniper will be suspended for the time being.
Dividend payout
The 2022 Annual General Meeting had approved the dividend proposal of Uniper's Board of Management and Supervisory Board to distribute a dividend of €26 million for the 2021 financial year. The dividend paid as of May 23, 2022 thus amounted to €0.07 per share and corresponds to an interest on the share capital (subscribed capital €622 million) of 4% pursuant to section 254 (1) AktG. This dividend payment already reflected the fact that, in view of the increased volatility on the energy markets and geopolitical uncertainties, Uniper had placed a stronger focus on its own liquidity.
