Application to make a non-material change to the North Killingholme Power Project DCO
Uniper has submitted a non-material application to the Planning Inspectorate to request for minor changes to be made to the existing planning consent (Development Consent Order (DCO)) for the North Killingholme Power Project - the development of a new combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station.
The consented CCGT will form a key part of the Killingholme Low Carbon Power (KLCP) project, exploring the potential development of carbon capture technology alongside the CCGT power station, to remove CO₂ emissions. The carbon capture proposals will be subject to a separate planning consent. Find out more about KLCP here.
Following recent engineering and design work, we are proposing four minor changes to the existing DCO for the CCGT.
These include optimising the layout of the supporting equipment within the site for the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station, updating some building heights and providing alternative land to meet the carbon capture readiness requirements of the DCO. We are also seeking to increase the consented generation capacity of the power station from 470 MWe to 550 MWe. This would enable the efficient use of gas turbine technology and align with the connection limit to export the power generated by the plant to the national grid.
Public consultation
The changes proposed by Uniper are subject to public consultation. The consultation period runs from 8 August to 5 September and responses should be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate (PINs) by 11.59pm on 5 September 2025.
Details of our proposals are set out in the non-material application and its accompanying documents, plans and drawings available on this page for the duration of the public consultation.
