Swedish Nuclear Waste Fund

All operational Swedish nuclear power plants pay an annual fee to the Swedish Nuclear Waste Fund. Since September 2018, the funds have been managed by the Swedish National Debt Office. The funds are earmarked to finance the Swedish nuclear waste program in its entirety.

Barsebäck’s share of the fund is currently SEK 15 billion. Our total share of the Swedish waste management system is SEK 10 billion and the remaining SEK 5 billion is for financing the demolition.
